Behind the Library – Children and Youth

It’s been a few months since we’ve taken you inside the ministry of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association to see what else is going on. After this past Saturday’s Sharing God’s Love event (see pictures on our Facebook page) hosted by our Children’s & Youth Evangelism Training staff, there’s no better time than now to talk about the children and youth training program.

While the bulk of this department is the curriculum that is offered, they also are starting a brand new training program for leaders of children and youth ministries.

ENGAGE workshops are free and open to everyone that works with young people in their church – not just children’s and youth pastors. The sessions are broken down to cover topics that address children and youth issues separately and together including taking a look at what the Bible says about young people, current statistics and research on youth outreach, and practical tools for ministry.

Looking for more? Each ministry represented at the classes will be given a free starter kit for either the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association’s The Greatest Journey or Dare to Be a Daniel curriculum, depending on what age group they lead.

The Greatest Journey is an exciting 12-lesson Bible study for children ages 6-10 years old that follows the adventures of its two main characters Jacob and Jordan. This material has been designed to equip the children in your care for the greatest adventure of all: to live boldly as faithful followers of Jesus Christ.

Dare to Be a Daniel combines multimedia technology, biblical teaching and interviews with famous athletes and musicians to help the youths live their faith in their interactions with friends, family and peers. Inspired by the biblical story of Daniel, this program trains Christian tweens – ages 9-14 – to take a stand for Jesus Christ and share their faith with their friends.

At the Billy Graham Library, we continue to host events for children throughout the year. Our next Sharing God’s Love Day will be held on Nov. 8 and the 7th annual Teddy Bear Tea will be held on Dec. 6. For more information on these events and to sign up for updates visit http://billygrahamlibrary.org/events.

The next ENGAGE training will be held in Erie, Pa., on Aug. 12. Find out more at http://billygraham.org/what-we-do/children-youth/training/.
